The Godlike Genius…
Jul 27, 2017, 13:00
Can't quite belive that there has been no mention here yet of the incredible BBC Late Night Prom celebrating the music of Scott Walker (1967-70)
The atmosphere there was like no other performance I've experienced and, despite a couple of slightly mis-judged vocal performances, overall the standard was amazing. The project was put together by Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins & Bella Union) whose dad arranged some of Scott's music, Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra
Vocalists on the night: Jarvis Cocker, John Grant, Richard Hawley & Susanne Sundfør (simply stunning on her take on 'The Amorous Humphrey Plugg')

Do yourself a favour and listen here (sandwiched by great Scott Walker-related Gideon Coe show)

or here (just the Prom)

Thanks for the heads-up. Definitely intend to give this a listen as I enjoyed the concert at the Barbican a few years back where the same thing was done with material from "Tilt" and "The Drift".

I was there too. A magical night. I was a bit apprehensive about who'd be singing 'The Amorous Humphrey Plugg', as I really wanted to hear it done well, but Susanne Sundfør was incredible. That voice really filled the Hall. John Grant had the most Scott-like tones, and really brought out the best in his selections.

I'm really looking forward to hearing this when I get chance. Any news re. Scott's recent activities?
