Sad but my god, a rock n roller who lived to 90 years old. Now that is truly amazing. This man was rock n roll, and our musical world would have been so different had he not picked up the axe. My daughter has loved his music since she was 7, after watching Back to the Future, I bought her a Chuck Berry LP. She sings all the songs, and wants to learn to play them now that she's 10. Outside of his own music, the cover of "Sweet Little Sixteen" by Sonics Rendezvous Band is the next best tribute I can think of. https://youtu.be/9XxR8eB48TY

There was a great Tom Robinson show on Radio 6 yesterday that was all about Chuck. Included this from 1979, and it sounded great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1DL9bVHPBk I suppose if you get an extra 20 years tagged on your 3 score and 10 you have the opportunity to rationalise any fears of mortality. I suspect he was prouder of his words than his music.

Another rock'n'roll innovator whom - like the equally great Bo Diddley I never got around to seeing live, sadly, but of course, what everyone else said. His legacy, stretching over at least the next two decades of music after his career started, hardly needs to be restated. R.I.P.

Sad news all the same... another legend departs. I'd be lying if I said I listened to his music on a regular basis; but so much of the music I do listen to has Chuck Berry somewhere in its DNA. An opportunity to revisit this funny little gem... Chuck Berry reviews Punk records, 1980

Here's a good piece from the LRB Blog: https://www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2017/03/20/alex-abramovich/another-name-for-rock-and-roll/ 'You Can’t Catch Me’ being father to 1970 by The Stooges? I really must be cloth-eared. Anyway, I found the above moving.
