is an interview with Masaki Batoh coinciding with the release of his new the Silence lp Hark the Silence. Interview is conducted by Ben Chasny of 6 Organs of Admittance fame.

Ghost werea great japanese psych band who blended heavy guitar stuff with folk influences including some traditional Japanese elements. Well worth checking out.
The Silence are blending some of the same influences & have 2 lps out.

Cheers, man. Hadn't thought about Ghost for ages. Which is disappointing as I remember thinking they were one of the few bands of whom I can throw anything on and expect positive tinglings. I always thought they'd be a good gateway to the Hypnotic Japanese Underground for Western Jap-Rock virgins. They can do the trancey, folky Ash Ra thang, but they also covered the Stones' Live With Me, didn't they?

Love the Japanese Ghost. How many bands have used the name over the years, though? The weirdo Scandimetal bunch and the guys who recorded 'When You're Dead' in 1970, to name two. All excellent stuff.
