I'm hearing Richard Treece, wonderful wonderful guitar player with Help Yourself, Neutrons, Green Ray has died. The music lives on. Check Reaffirmation off Beware The Shadow by Help Yourself.

I stuck the Green ray live set from Walthamstow on 24th April on after hearing that. Shame I didn't hear about their gig last time I was there until it was too late and i was elsewhere in London thinking about heading home with aching legs.
Particularly since the gig would have been somewhere in walking distance of home I think. So I never got to see them with that line up and now never will.
Wonder if they will continue?

great player, great band

from his friend glea on sh.tv:
if you read the story of the Helps, you'd see they just weren't the kind of people who could survive the business. So many things went wrong, not all their own fault. They are all fragile personalities. Enjoy the music they made...The recent release of the unfinished 5th album and the Roundhouse Concert were unexpected delights. Bassist Ken Whaley's passing a couple of years ago went largely unnoticed. He was a massive players.
There are some mostly unheard project Richard did after Helps. Splendid Humans was a continuation of the Happy Days thing. He also did time in the Flying Aces with Micky Gibbons from Badfinger and Phil Ryan from Man. Ricky plays the solo on The Tyla Gang's Stiff Single Texas Chainsaw Massacre Boogie. There is also a cd of his home guitar explorations, Dream Arena East. He also did a cameo on Malcolm's solo album.

a nice vid of him playing with glea's band Donovan's Brain:
