I love it . To my mind it really benefitted from the treatment it was given on the re-releases for their 25th anniversary. The little fills in the rhythm became much clearer adding to the atmospheric feel. The sound was fuller, warmer & louder. The album cover is perfect for what is contained with & really reflects the feel of the sound. That said, porcupine is my favourite. A dense swirling noise that marries catchy pop touches with an effort to strive for something beyond simple pop or rock. They had a great run of four albums with an individual sound on each one.

Most ashamedly I had not even heard of Julian Cope at that point... I saw what I think was their first London gig back in about 1979 (or thereabouts), in the basement of the YMCA Tottenham Court Road. A very memorable gig, not least because they filled the whole place with dry ice!
