Very sad. Fella bequeathed us with a shedload of great acts that virtually no label besides ESP Disk would have been willing to take a chance on at the time. Not only that, he managed to persuade a major label (Fontana) to license some of his most far-out acts (such as the Godz) catalogue in the UK. More innocent times...

:( The Fugs are one of my favourite bands. And, rather than go the trad Kind of Blue route, I think it may have been their Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, Pharaoh Sanders, Sonny Simmons releases that stuck the forceps into the vagina of Jazz and stretched the whole thang wide open for me.

What other acts did they have on their label? Pearls Before Swine, Patty Waters, Cromagnon, Godz? Coolest label ever.
