Sad to hear that. He put out some really great stuff both in Pentangle and solo. I think I need to explore him much further. He was doing some very interesting stuff in the 70s. & I think he was the guitarist in Pentangle that went electric first. I have a Transatlantic best-of of his and possibly Sir Johnalot. Outside of the Pentangle material that is. Stevo

Wow. Just last night we went out for a late night drive to get some carry-out and I played The Lady and the Unicorn in the car, not having heard it in years. My wife commented on it- said, "this is really nice." Eerie.

Best guitarist I've ever seen. Sat, almost literally, at his feet many times - as recently as last November playing with Steve Tilston and Wizz Jones. He was kinda coasting that night but still played some little fills over a Wizz blues that sounded like Jerry Garcia at his very best. Amazingly talented and charming fellow. His music lives on.

Very sad. I love Pentangle and his solo work. Stunningly talented guitarist. Best gig I've ever been to was Pentangle in 2008. I was hoping to catch him live with Robin Williamson. Another great gone.

So sad to hear this. RIP to a 'quiet great'. The number of times he's played within reach of me and for some reason I've not gone....and now... so, the only time I saw him was as a cofirebrand with Pentangle, a long, long time ago. A very big regret, sinking in. For those unfamiliar with his solo work and want a taste, the two minute but transcendent Westron Wynde from The Lady and the Unicorn is on Youtube, as the middle piece in 'My Johnny Was A Shoemaker + WW + Scarborough Fair' , if you search, as is the entire album. Listen. No other words necessary.
