Just got back from seeing them at 100 Club in London. They were brilliant and 100 Club was just so perfect for Gallon Drunk, being a small and such an iconic venue. I can't believe I had never seen them live before. Right up my street. I've heard bits and bobs over the years, and finally did some serious listening in the last couple of months, and was blown away. Even after all these years. James Johnston is one helluva talented guy! And the rest of the band in many formations. It was hard to believe that the tickets were only £10. Any other easy listeners? Joking! 'The Soul Of The Hour' is quite amazing, Anybody else seen them?

Saw them a long long time ago, probably just after Dragging Along came out, in a flea pit in Biringham called The Barrel Organ. Was OK as I recall, but i was probably very, very drunk, so don't recall much. Peel played the 'Draggin' single a lot, plus they did a great Session in the same year (91/92?) Probably the heart of their Nick Cave festishization. Snub TV - Dragging Along. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwzqF2ZSl4M Peel Session 91 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhYLi1mWc3A If you enjoy GD you really gotta check out Amazing Snakeheads, similar ball park soundwise, but a new band with a stunnng stage presence. Know i've barfed on about em' quite a lot, but really, you'll never witness such menacing self belief on a small stage. Awesome band. Where Is My Knife -French TV- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oktXgHx-eeg Live Glasgow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNbHsEq3-WI 'Bout the same time remember another groovy beat groop called Thee Hypnotics. Not at all like GD, but stunning in their single mindedness to capture that 'Detroit' sound from the 60's / 70's. Now they WERE good live. Cheers for all that. I'll digest at my peril! Actually SNUB TV was quite amazing at the time. FSD was brilliant for live bands from Scotland and I went to quite a few of the recordings. Even The Tube was unmissable, Rock Goes To College, OGWT etc. Music on TV is so bad these days means I get a bit nostalgiac and a wee bit angry. BBC did a Mogwai thing a few months ago which was ok, but not quite enough. My brother was in charge of the filming, so kudos to him for trying. It rolls. There was a time when music on TV was just fantastic. Not now. All we have is Jools Holland and complete crap on other TV channels. Jools has done a good job in the past, but not now, as nobody really supports his taste. I suppose he's getting a bit older. 6 music is going strong still though. There is still hope! The man from Mogwai even sings on these ones! Really nice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng1piKbcT8Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGTB_MMVH74

Love them Saw them in the mid 90s twice and once or twice after that. Brilliant live band and should have been much bigger.

My mate Darren Gash recorded one track off the Traitors' Gate EP for them when he worked at SAE. Thank you, fact fans.
