Much as I'm loathe to view anything on a 'Murdoch' channel, Sky Arts showed an edited version of this a few weeks back. Was called 'Anarchy In Manchester' and the talk over by John Cooper Clarke was to die for. The laconic and sarcastic delivery, the descriptions and that classic JCC sneer had us howling. Was hoping it was gonna be a series, but never saw any more on the listings (or maybe I just missed em!). Oh, duh! this answers my question...catch the trailer here. Weird though, I recorded this end of October or something. Musta been a timeshift. http://www.sky.com/tv/show/anarchy-in-manchester Edit, this looks like it may be an interesting listen (in a cheesy 80's pop way). Quite a few 'artistes' I've never heard of trying to do the 'pop' thang. (I imagine this is the sort of stuff Cope hated back in the Tamworth Years). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m2zIgjsUA0 Tracklist runs thus... This Fear - Soldier Of This Fashion [1985] Face Of Concern - Brighter Days [1986] Erth – Dreaming Of You [1986] The Press Club - I'm Watching You [1985] Henry Badowski - Silver Trees [1981] The Fans - Love Me Like a Stranger [1984] Bangah - Every Wave [1984] Minks – Surprised [1984] Clever Lines - After the Snow Melts [1985] Doo Blan Tant – Life Long [1984] The And – Holiday Girl [1984] Hoorah! Boys! Hoorah! - Is This What You Promised Me [1984] Spot The Dog - Man Who Dies Everyday [1982] Zamp Nicall – Music Man [1985] Kingdoms – Heartland [1984] Edge Of The Wedge - She Loves By #s [1984] D'arc – The Letter [1982] Vellum Stairs - You're Always Guilty [1990] ¡Ack-Ack! - Another Face [1985] Tools Of Romance - Cool Heart [1985] Sight Unseen - Is This Heaven [1985] I Spy – Channels [1982] Broken Silence - Nightstalking [1984] |

The voice over was great, but I became irritated* by hugely tenuous links. E.g. a video of the Stranglers at the Hope and Anchor, London, just because Tony Wilson featured it on TV and had made a mildly glib comment about said clip. Poor. * Sorry, I do become very irritated very easily these days |

Haven't seen the second one yet. I guess they're milking the Tony WIlson connection, cos'of his musical status with regard to the Manchester music scene. Most of the stuff In the first show I'd seen numerous times, but it's old JCC's talk over that makes it for me.
