First impressions? Well it's a bit more rock and a bit less folk than recent offerings, although all the familiar elements are present. VU like driven grooves. Puns. References to things familiar only to people over 45. Namechecks of obscure places. Mollington got a mention this time out. On one listen, nothing has really reached out and grabbed me, in the way that, say, National Shite Day or Tommy Walshes Eco House did on first listen, but there's nothing too strained and cringeworthy there either. Will shove it on the ipod and listen to it through the rain and gales today.

First track is a belter! Definitely more rocky than the last few, a fair few elements of classic Back In the DHSS i reckon. My fave apart from the aforementioned 'Westward ho!' is the wonderful "Adam Boyle has cast lad rock aside". It's always good to have new HMBH, and there are as usual many wonderful lyrics, starting to be documented here: http://www.chrisrand.com/hmhb/urge-for-offal/

Just me I know but I think this isn't a very good HMHB album, but I agree 'Adam Boyle has cast lad rock aside' is excellent, as is the prior title track 'Urge for offal'. I also thought it sounds a lot like a return to back in the DHSS but it's not really tbh. I think I've got to prefer them when they're more 'folk'. Also the mastering is awful to my ears, quite brutal limiting has occurred.
