Cope in London 2015 and news of new 'Best Of'
Oct 20, 2014, 10:33
Tweeted by Village Underground & Lee Brackston…

Village Underground is thrilled to announce a new manifestation of 'visionary rock musician and musicologist, hip archaeologist and one-time front man of the Teardrop Explodes' (Bloomsbury).

This performance follows the release a new ‘Best Of’ compilation covering the years 1999-2014 entitled Trip Advizor. This was one the most prolific periods of his 30-year career in the rock business which not only saw Cope unleash a series of superb solo albums but also saw him collaborating with Sunn0))) and recording with proto-metal power trio Brain Donor.

Cope's musical output is only one facet to this singer, poet, occultist and photographer's work. His best-selling tome The Modern Antiquarian, a full colour 484-page hardback and follow-up The Megalithic European were the result of eight years of research into lost stone temples and ancient monuments.

Last June, the venerable Faber & Faber published Cope’s debut novel One Three One, which received ecstatic reviews. The Guardian described the book as ‘One of the most brilliant, serious, funny, life-crammed novels any reader is likely to lay their mitts on’, while The Quietus declared: “One Three One is a triumph’. The Irish Times called the book ‘Beckett on a bender’, Bobby Gillespie described it as ‘a total skullfuck of a book’, while Stewart Lee admitted “I read it in one sitting’.

Can't imagine it but would be a bit more incentive to go.

London prices. Always more expensive than the rest of the country. If it were here in t' potteries it would probably be a quid with a donation to the food bank.

Thats the sort of price usually reserved for the Neil Diamond's of this world!! Ok slight exaggeration but as regular London gig goer I too found that price a little too high. Be worth it of course. Band would be nice.

I thought everyone had well paid jobs and was rich in London and that's why they moved there in the first place? Was I misled?
