Peter Hammill has just tweeted "Goodbye. Stuart Gordon, brilliant musician, dearest friend, the loveliest of men."

Can't find any other details anywhere.

Sad to hear. His fiddle playing on those 'Van der Graaf' lps & especially the extraordinary 'Vital' recordings have a deeply etched place in my memory.

That was Graham Smith. Stuart Gordon contributed to PH's solo career.

Don't know how I missed this. Fantastically inventive player. For anyone needing a way into post 80s Hammill then the two-hander "Veracious" is a really great place to start out. One of his best records I think.
