Add N to (X) - Avant Hard
Bark Psychosis - Hex. How can this be twenty years old? Always right on the edge of falling apart, often not sure what is still holding a track together. Dust it down and give it a listen. ‘tis its own reward.
Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest.
Disco Inferno - Technicolour
King Crimson - Red.
Don Cherry - Eternal Rhythm.
Midday Veil - The Current.
Nazareth - No Mean City.
Alfred Schnittke | Symphony No. 1 (Russian State Symphony Orchestra) Big glorious mess. Seemingly inspired by every noise ever.
Scorpions - Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism.
Sleaford Mods - Austerity Dogs.
Slowdive - Pygmalion. As with Hex above. I’ve been doing some contemplating obviously. There were some interesting things knocking about in the mid-nineties. Unacknowledged and neglected - but there all the same.
Super Furry Animals - Lovekraft.
Wipers - Youth Of America
Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom.

Constance Demby - Skies Above Skies
Funny how old and long forgotten albums come back into your life. This proto new age record was a big favourite of my acupuncturist in the mid 80s. I had not listened to it in years but was prompted to upgrade my decrepit old cassette dub to cd after hearing an excerpt featured on the "I Am The Center" compilation. Actually quite a lot of Constance Demby's pre digital music is worth at least checking out for her TDream like space music, her wall-of-dulcimer thing and her love of subsonics. From the mid 80s on the technology seems to take away more than it gives. This though is a gem absolutely worth owning and could be fairly reliably described as a cross between Linda Perhacs, Agnes Garnas and "Victorialand". If "Skies Above Skies" had been made in say Sweden or Iceland and released on 4AD in 1983 with a Vaughan Oliver cover and Melody Maker endorsement then it would be all but guaranteed a place in the indie art rock pantheon of curios - all dulcimer shimmer and voix mystere. So, if you like that sort of thing, then you are in for a major treat. You just have to be prepared to listen around the styling / presentation.

The Eddie Kendricks Collection, Vol. 1
Lou Reed - Animal Serenade
The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend
.... and lots of Knifeworld

Atlanter - Vidde. Nordic pastoral psyche prog. V good!
Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night
Black Sabbath - 13
Hell - Human Remains
Angel Witch - As Above, So Below
Baroness - The Red Album/Yellow & Green
Turisas - Stand Up & Fight. Brilliantly OTT

Patrick Vian - Bruit et Temps Analogues. Love it!

Rovo & System 7- Phoenix Rising. Like this a lot, it being a collaboration between Japanese prog band Rovo, about which I know nothing apart from that the main bloke was in Boredoms, and Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy's long running System 7 project. It's a part trance, more prog, space-rock and fusion tinged extravaganza! They even bung in an audacious Mahavishnu cover (Meeting of the Spirits) and pull it off weaving Hillage's trademark gliss guitar in the spaces where John McLaughlin would be. In fact, Hillage's guitar is all over this album and there's a track that reminds me of Levitation era Hawkwind with the guitar recalling the late, great Huw LLoyd-Langton's work on that album. Good stuff all told.

Scorpion Child - ST
Skanska Mord - Path to Charon
KISS - Monster
Crossfaith - Apocalyze
Yob - The Unreal Never Lived
Meads of Asphodel - Exhuming the Grave of Yeshua
The Winery Dogs - ST

Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue/An American in Paris/Concerto in F for piano & Orchestra.

Have a nice week x
