Very very difficult, maybe it could be: The Beatles XTC / Dukes of Stratosphear Julian Cope and various side projects (Coming very close are Psychic TV, the Smiths and Pre Dark Side Floyd)

The Pop Group Sergiu Celibidache Yes though it could be any 3 from 50 and if we are extending the idea of artist beyond musical performers then I would have to have these before any musician Werner Herzog Francis Bacon Don McCullin Am presuming the "K" word has been missed out because they inhabit their own category of awesomeness 8^) I was approaching it from the Desert Island Discs perspective so was trying to get a bit of everything out of three v different things! Love them as I do Kiss only really cover one musical base. If brilliantly.

I've been collecting quotes from his memoirs: On conducting his Mass of the Dead: "The chorus received the orchestral onslaught without flinching; the fourfold fanfare pealed forth from the four corners of the stage, the air shook with the roll of ten pairs of drumsticks and the tremolo of fifty bows unleashed..." On conducting his own music in general: "His right arm unleashes tremendous chords which go off like explosions...And in the long adagios the bliss of floating on a lake of serene harmony while a hundred soft voices intertwined chant his love songs... If he has felt his heart thrill to the touch of the poetry and the melody of the music, has sensed within him the secret fire that is the soul's incandescence, his goal is attained, the heaven of art is opened to him..." Rock n Roll! Wow! Gotta get some Berlioz! Which of his albums do you recommend?!
