Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left Genesis - Selling England By The Pound Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn Amon Düül 2 - Tanz Der Lemminge Amon Düül 2 - Carnival In Babylon The Monkees - The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees (Mono) Trio - Triologie Os Mutantes - Fool Metal Jack (rather liked this - rarely sounds like the Mutantes of old, but it has plenty of edge.) Guru Guru - UFO Spectrals - Bad Penny Kate Bush - The Director's Cut The Beach Boys - M.I.U. Album The Beach Boys - L.A. (Light Album) The Beach Boys - Live: The 50th Anniversary Tour (this could have been a classic live album, if it wasn't for the autotune applied to a few of the lead vocals in post production. Yuck!) The Kingsbury Manx - Bronze Age Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (played this on its 40th birthday, and my 43rd) The Byrds - The Notorious Byrd Brothers

Christa Ludwig, Otto Klemperer, Philharmonia Orchestra - Wagner: Wesendonck Lieder Reginald Goodall and ENO Orchestra and Chorus - Wagner: Gotterdammerung (Twilight Of The Gods) (Sung In English) Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert von Karajan - Wagner: Der Ring Des Nibelungen The Decca Solti highlights or budget Haitink highlights sets will fill a Ring sized gap just fine for most people but every now and again I have to go the whole hog. It has been hard to escape the Wagner Borg ship this week and that has wiped out most other listening. Even then I haven't finished the whole thing. Resistance is futile. Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone & London Vocal Project - Mirrors Gets better by the week. Recommended for anyone with a soft spot for "Place Vendome" harmonies and the poetry of Stevie Smith but musically it is closer to the ECM aesthetic than the MJQ / Swingles. The Les Double Six version of Coltrane's Naima might be an even closer comparison. I could still do without two of the three Lewis Carroll tracks. This could have been one of the all time great tip-to-toe vocal jazz albums without them. William Winant, Deborah Dietrich, Karen Rosenak, David Abel - Feldman : Rothko Chapel / Why Patterns Graham Bond - The Sound Of 65 / There Is A Bond Between Us Dave Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name.... Herbie Hancock- River, The Joni Letters Eloy - Floating

Diaspora - Natacha Atlas Some genuinely great moments on this 90’s album from the wonderful NA. Aladdin Sane – David Bowie A tribute to Trevor Bolder. As a friend said “it’s a sign we’re getting older when all our idols disappear”. Head On – Die Haut This 1992 album passed me by at the time, but it’s a great discovery. Features more guests than you could shake a stick at – Blixa Bargeld, Kim Gordon, Debbie Harry, Lydia Lunch, Alan Vega, etc. LA Woman / Bright Midnight (Live In America) – The Doors And I played these as a little tribute to Ray Manzarek. His autobiography might be so pretentious that it’s funny at times, but his playing is unrivalled. I heard Chris Evans play the full-length version of Light My Fire the following morning and I wasn’t far from having a tear in my eye hearing that fabulous lengthy instrumental break. Nevermind – Nirvana Played this again – loving hearing tracks Stay Away like with its Adrian Borland –like guitar stabs. Rockers Meets King Tubbys In A Firehouse – Augustus Pablo I heard the title track of this on Peel all those years ago and loved it. Bought this sometime afterwards and it’s still one of my fave reggae albums. The Uptown LP is much better known and I love that, too, but I’d probably go for this one out of the two. The track that really did it for me this week is Dub In A Matthews Lane Arena which closes side one. A dub classic. I posted it on FB and the sun came out! ; ) Also... Rave-O-Lution – Julian Cope Visitations - Clinic Dead Magick – Dead Skeletons Ancient Romans – Sun Araw Colossal Youth – Young Marble Giants
