As you all know I'm a guy who like brazilian music a lot, mostly Tropicália (Caetano Veloso is god) psychedelia from the 70s, and so many many mora stuff. I know too that some of you have and listen to some brasilian artists. I'm very interested to know a little more about it. So, thanks! Some I LOVE are: Caetano Veloso: Transa (and all the others) Os Mutantes: first 3 records Gilberto Gil: Um Banda Um, Extra and Raça Humana Milton Nascimento: Clube de Esquina, Jorney To Dawn Gal Costa: her first 4 records and Índia ...

My Top 10: Gilberto Gil & Jorge Ben - Ogum Xangô Caetano Veloso - Jóia (Some of the most earthy pop music you're ever likely to hear) Joyce & Nelson Ângelo - Nelson Ângelo e Joyce (Haunting harmonic psyche-folk perfection) Tom Zé - Todos os Olhos Gilberto Gil - Gilberto Gil (the one with all the fuzzy electric guitar licks) Marcos Valle - Previsão do Tempo (Summery moog music) Os Mutantes - A Divina Comédia ou Ando Meio Desligado (I've played the debut to death so until I re-discover it this is my fave of theirs) Gal Costa - Gal (Sexy harpy screaming with some more awesome fuzzy guitar) Baden Powell & Vinícius de Moraes - Os Afro Sambas Lula Côrtes e Zé Ramalho - Paêbirú (Everyone here with psychedelia in their veins should hear this) Underrated: Edu Lobo - Edu Lôbo (I think Brazilians found naming albums a bit of a chore) V.A. - Posicoes Alceu Valença & Geraldo Azevedo - Alceu Valença & Geraldo Azevedo Alceu Valença - Molhado de Suor Walter Franco - Ou Não Paulinho da Viola - Foi Um Rio que Passou em Minha Vid Bola Sete - Ocean Memories

I doubt if i'd evn be posting here if it wasn't for you and LMan so thanks for turning me onto some of this great music in the first place. My choices are a bit obvious, mind... OS MUTANTES - just about everything V/A - Ou Panis et Circensis GAL COSTA - s/t and Gal CAETANO VELOSO - s/t ( 1969 white album ) MODULO 1000 - Nao Fale Con Parades OS HAIXINS - s/t OS BRAZOES - s/t ( Gal's backing band ) LULA CORTES & ZE RAMALHO - Paebiru SOM IMAGINARIO - s/t ( Milton Nascimento's backing band IIRC ) Edit - The Tropicalia compilation released on Soul Jazz a few years back was a major eye opener too. Guess i like the stuff from the late 60's and early 70's. Coincidentally, i'm at work at the moment and found some CDR's from your goodself last night when tidying up my locker so i'm listening to... OS NOVOS BAIANOS - Acabou Chorare ... as i type. And a couple more from MILTON NASCIMENTO ( Milagre dos Peixes studio and live ) for later. Thankfully my colleague has wide ranging tastes ! Cheers mate :-)

Not much to add what's been mentioned. Sergio Mendes might be a bit cheesy but if you are in the mood.... Other one, if you like early electroacoustic with nods to GRM, Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry etc: Jorge Antunes - 'Savage Sounds. Early Brazillian Electronic Music 1961-1970' Good piece on it here: http://home.swipnet.se/sonoloco10/pogus/antunes.html
