Wishbone Ash/ ST. (Had forgotten how good side 2 is!)

Cathedral/ The Guessing Game (Having long been a fan of the American band from the 70s Cathedral and having once picked up a disc by the UK band on accident which I only remember not liking much I thought based on the strength of recent reviews of this one I'd give them another go. I like it! Plus, any band who writes a song about Italian actress and giallo queen Edwidge Fenech cannot be all bad!)

Buffalo/ Dead Forever (I've a weak spot for these Australian groundhogs... )

Turzi/ B

Rangda/ False Flag

Magic Lantern/ Platoon

Clear Light/ ST (I love the French Clearlight and thought I'd give this late 60s California band a go)
Spacemen 3/ The Perfect Prescription (Trying to decide if these guys are totally overrated OR if I'm missing something. I dig it but I don't love it)
Master Musicians of Bukkake/ Totem Two
Heavy Hands/ Smoke Signals
The New Pornographers/ Together (More popsy than my usual listening I'm dipping my toe into their pool. Anyone offering swimming lessons?)
David Wrench & Black Sheep/ Spades & Hoes & Plows
Mount Carmel/ ST. (Oh soooo good!!!)
Sun Araw/ On Patrol
Burzum/ Belus (Another departure for me. Pretty much stopped listening to too much "black metal" at around the time Venom's third album was released... This is very dark, very far away from Teacher's Pet or Die Hard and very lovely in a strange kinda way)
Wolfmother/ Cosmic Egg (my son introduced these guys to me and I dig it)
Dead Man/ Euphoria (This record to me is just gold)

Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart and It's a Heartache are two tracks that I've loved since the first time I heard them. Heartache was a massive hit here in the states when it came out (1979? 80?) and it sounds as good today as back then. Same with Eclipse.

Nice review Dave. Quite a difficult album to describe, and you've done a sterling job there. I've got the vinyl re-issues, which don't have any track listings, so it is interesting to see you analyse it track by track. I've tended to think of each side of the albums as a whole entity, despite the gaps between tracks, as I don't have track titles to identify each segment by. I'm not sure I would enjoy the albums as much without a decent hifi, as you rightly point out in the review - it seems important to be able to hear as much as possible of the wide frequency range for the full effect.

Fascinating stuff, and I'm looking forward to the third vinyl release in the series very much.
