aye some gems, and very diverse, I like the trad leaning stuff, psych and folk rock stuff on it but not so keen on the tracks from the neo-folk contingent though

801 '801 Live' - fine 1976 concert recording by an impressive band of ex-Roxy, Curved Air and Matching Mole luminaries. I haven't heard the new expanded version of this: anyone got an opinion?

I've heard a few bits of the new edition and it sounded great.
A mate of mine has it and I seem to recall he said there were 'rehearsal' versions of some of the tracks on an extra disc.
I also seemed to noticed that 'Lagrima' didn't fade in as on the original LP and there is a good version of Eno's "Golden Hours" from the AGW album.
The stormer is their version of "Tomorrow Never Knows", it sounded great remastered.

I've always really liked "801 Live", the drumming from Simon Phillips is fantastic, in fact everyone plays a blinder, it really is a corker of a live album, I always thought Eno's vocals were really good too.
What a great sound they had, they were certainly ahead of their time.
I think they influenced a lot of the post-punk stuff, but the album never had the recognition it deserved imho
Just realised that Charles Hayward of This Heat was in the original line-up of Quiet Sun, Phil Manzanera's group before he joined Roxy and there are a couple of QS tracks on the album, so it's 'back to the future' in a strange way

Another one to get sometime.

Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
I should listen to this more often, wonderful stuff.

Alice Coltrane - Universal Consciousness
Never got on with this before, but listening to it this week it finally clicked. Perhaps because I've been listening to lots of free-form impro stuff lately I'm more atuned to it? Don't know, but anyhow, this sounds lovely now.

Tetragrammaton - Elegy For Native Tongues
The first CD of this is really growing on me now, and I think I prefer it to the 2nd (live) CD which Cope reviewed as AOTM. I think the studio side is crisper and more defined. Nice.

Human Quena Orchestra - Politics of the Irredeemable
Still providing my daily requirement of doomy ambience.

Gong - 2032
My high opinion of this remains intact. Best Gong album since the trilogy IMO. Sounded great on Hallowe'en :-)

Muse - The Resistance
Still not sure why this lot aren't held in high regard around these parts. This is a stonking rock album. They always seem to get categorised as "prog", but this sounds more rock than prog to my ears, despite the over-the-topness of it all. Catchy as hell too.

White Hills - Heads On Fire
Rocks like the proverbial. Looking forward greatly to the next album.

David Sylvian & Robert Fripp - The First Day
Possibly Sylvian's heaviest album. Some fab Fripp stuff on here too. I really enjoyed revisiting this the last couple of weeks.

Luke Haines- 21st Century Man. Either classic Haines or repeating himself to the point of self-parody: not sure yet.

Cold Cave- Love Comes Close. Definitely parodic goth electro, but I've warmed to it somewhat.

The Pet Shop Boys- Actually.
The Sisters of Mercy- Floodland.
Julian Cope- The Unruly Imagination.
Roxy Music- Stranded.
Peter Hammill- In Camera.
Dr John the Night Tripper- Gris Gris.
Tangerine Dream- Zeit.
Bert Jansch- The Bert Jansch Sampler.
The Pooh Sticks- Great White Wonder.
