So, is this 99-09? Seems a bit arbitrary.

Are there records from 1999 in there? I can't be bothered to check. I imagined it was 2000-2009, which would be 'the noughties' just as 1970-79 would be the seventies. Although I agree, it doesn't feel like the end of a decade; I've been aware of that for a while now, the first ten years of the 21st Century don't seem to have had the same sense of a consistent body of time... I dunno.

Anyway, needless to say I'd disagree with much of that list, but to be fair I suppose the point of these things is to provoke disagreement and discussion. And inevitably there are quite a few albums I do like on there. Everyone would agree on that. They just wouldn't agree on which ones.

Time to start brushing up those HH albums of the decade lists, then? (2000-2009, top ten only for the sake of brevity).

Lists are great

I'm impressed that somebody can find so many albums from the last decade that they could deem worth of slotting in a list of 150

Surely the only albums that deserve to be called an album of the decade is one that you still play reasonably often - one that was ace and played loads on release but hasn't really been played for ages doesn't deserve such an accolade - I certainly don't have anywhere near 150 albums that I play often

but I'm sure that lists are partly designed to flog a few extra copies of a magazine

of course everybody automatically things they can do better but that's just because these things by their very nature will always be down to personal taste

Nah. Make it twenty. Seems more all-compassing somehow (I reckon you tend find more interesting, less obvious choices between 11-20!)

These ChristMess issues seem to come around earlier every year. Classic Rock are currently running one with 150 records to hear before you croak. At least is relieved slightly by Julian selecting his top 5 Jap Rock releases.
