The best piece of heretofore unknown lore is that Joe secretly asked Mick to write music for at least eight lyrics while he was recording Global A-Go-Go. He wanted to sneak Mick into the studio at night to work with him, but Mick thought it disrepectful to the Mescaleros. When Mick later asked Joe whatever happened to the unused songs, he was told by Joe he was saving them for the "next Clash album". Of course, there was never a chance for that to happen. I can't speak to some of the details, but I can confirm that there are indeed eight demos Mick made of the songs they'd written. There's also six leftover Strummer/Jones songs written for BAD back in '86, and eight more unused they wrote for movies through the 80's.
