Yeah I thought it was a great story, nowadays it could be an everyday

occurrence, not because of drugs, because most bands/musicians aren't

that Godlike, and could be replaced(for better, for worse).

A group in Seattle, KINSKI, got the call to open a few stadium dates for TOOL at the last minute, this was last year sometime... Half the band couldn't blow their day jobs so the two principals, if they could be said to really be such, Chris the "frontman" guitarist and Lucy the bass player (his lady friend), did the tour with talented friends filling in on 2nd guitar and drums. I haven't heard tracks from that tour, tho I'd love to... I thought it was pretty cool that they could pull it together in any form in that situation, that they were able to make the dates, and that they knew people together enough to play their set out on no notice - the tunes aren't super-proggy-complex but they're not all simple, either...

Not that band members are or should be interchangable, just that it could be a positive thing at times

I saw Cornershop a few years before their massive Brimful of Asha hit, and they said they didn't know what the gig was gonna be like as the guitarist couldn't get time off work so the roadie was standing in. I enjoyed it though.
