Lydia said something about Thurston being her favourite bass player around the time of the In Limbo mini lp. Possibly it was in the Forcedexposure interview?
He'd certainly have respect for the band & has known her for years.
Wouldn't mind seeing that. Is it going to be 15 minutes a pop again though? Thurston digging the Dead and all might stretch that out to half an hour eh?

That is my mis-givings also. Back in the day, Teenage Jesus was known for extremely short sets. Lydia wasn't lying when you said she hated music and she went out of her way to insult the audience. I just don't know how well that would translate in 2008. I also don't see them expanding their musical palate for the occasion either even though Moore and Sclavunos have long left their No Wave roots behind them and are actually fairly accomplished musicians nowadays. (Sclavunos's day job is drumming for the Bad Seeds)

This is why I wouldn't get overly excited over this reunion. It's more a way for Thurston to plug his book and Lydia to get a little attention. There's also a Teenage Jesus compilation due soon from Acute records and I'm sure that's another reason for this surprising 'reunion'.

I think the Atravistic compi from 10 odd years back disappointed several people with its brevity. There's about 20 minutes of studio material. I think there are a couple of different mixes though. The same material as appeared on No New York appeared elsewhere in different mix.

I think there are some live sets around though.
So compiling their studio stuff only might have made more sense on something like Hysterie where it got 1 side out of 4.

Np SRC Michigan 1969 The Angel Song
(this appears to have the same line-up as 1st lp playing material from lp2
so more psych/prog than the '71 set)

I remember the first time I heard the Atravistic comp. I popped it on the stereo went to check my mail and put a few things away and by the time I got back to my stereo, the CD was already finished. I thought it was a defect until I saw how short it was.

So yeah, a new Jerks compilation is way over-due.

I think that comp was short because Teenage Jesus didn't record that much material. Also their live shows were supposedly only 10 minutes long as well...

I might be wrong so don't take my word for it but I believe the forth-coming Acute comp will be two discs. I think if you included all their recorded music plus every single live show they did, it still wouldn't fill out two discs so we shall see.

I'll try to find out more info about it and report back.
