Continuation of audiophile remastering of Pixies catalog only stereo, no 5.1

Surfer Rosa was done in May 2007. No vinyl editions yet.

Mobile Fidelity had done Nirvana's 'Nevermind' in cd and vinyl in '96

Maybe it's just me wanting more in the same vein as the first two albums, but I still feel that Doolittle was somewhat over-produced.

The Doolittle demos, without all the keyboards*/strings etc, remains my favourite version of this album. I guess that by this point Pixies were headed for more commercial success and reaching an audience beyond the college circuit and the Melody Maker/Sounds/NME readership ... but that's no excuse really. The songs are strong enough, there was no need to rush to meet the approaching audience halfway.

Maybe a 2-cd reissue with a 'bonus' disc of the demos direct from the masters ... I've yet to come across a copy of the demos that doesn't suffer from at least a little tape warble ... and as far as I'm aware the only demo track to make it to official release was 'Tame' on the Spiral Scratch CD6 cover disc ... which I treasure.

*even if it was Eric Drew Feldman that ended up doing the keyboards live for them when/after Pixies toured with Ubu.
