Just got it t'other day: BUILD AN ARK'S "DAWN" LP - Fantastic spiritual folk jazz, has similarities with Offering-period Magma, the Coltranes, Sun-Ra. A healing musical experience!! Reccomended!! Also must mention the fantastic latest LP from GRAILS - "BURNING OFF IMPURITIES." There are lots of bands cuurently plying that Heart of Glass-era Popol Vuh electric alpine-folk thing, (Citay and (sometimes) Charalambides, to name but two); but not many are doing it as powerfully as Grails are. Well worthy, and available on vinyl as well.

Bruce Springsteen - Magic! Bobby Conn - King for a Day Winters - Black Clouds in Twin Galaxies Dungen was good too but they could've done a tour.... Book : Another vote for Japrocksampler over here, if only for turning me on to Far East Family Band's "Parallel World"! What a belter... Oh, and the Yahowa 13 book was illuminating and life-affirmingly preposterous (if not preposterously life-affirming)! Happy New Year!

I'd like to add some extremely late entries cos I only got 'em for Xmas and they've pleased me mightily. Chemical Brothers - We Are The Night. Easily the trippiest and most inventive thing they've done -a remarkable achievement this far into their career. Excellent. Rush - Snakes & Arrows. I'd heard kind words about this but I was surprised just how good it was. Best Rush album in about 20 years maybe? Witchcraft - The Alchemist. Sounds like the album they've been building up to making. Broadening their influences but still retro rockingly tastic. Really good!

I'm definitely down with the cat re: Snakes and Arrows. For me, the Rush LPs of the 90s/00s have been patchy to say the least. With Snakes And Arrows they have finally released an LP worthy of the Rush moniker again. For me, its their best Lp since Moving Pictures. Also been enjoying the "Xanadu" boot from the Permanent Waves tour - you heard that one MoonCat? Fantastic Stuff!

Japrocksampler was definitely the book, just on the strength of Anywhere/Satori and a bunch of Yoko Ono stuff I wouldn't have normally purchased... Have done a wider list, though have just listened to Battles again and am pretty bowled over - Atlas was the single? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-of-2007/lm/R17X8CCHJS7BJJ/ref=cm_lm_pdp_title_full
