Safe as milk.
Lick my decals off, baby.
Trout mask replica.

In -68 I was a snotty young man with firm opinions on what was "proper" music. "Safe as milk" shattered them all to pieces.

Anyone heard the Bat Chain Puller demos? I downloaded them ages ago, and apparently there's a story behind how he wanted them put out in their original state but the record company wouldn't have it or something. Anyone know for real?

They came out as a legit CD a few years back called "Dust Sucker" - two of the tracks were later included on "Ice Cream For Crow" - "81 Poop Hatch" and "The 1010th Day of the Human Totem Pole"

Oh thanks! My Beefheart knowledge ain't that great, but I do like the sound of these demos. Dust Sucker! Thought I'd heard that somewhere...

Trout Mask Replica
Safe As Milk
Shiny Beast

(or #3 could be Decals or Doc on a different day!)

Worst two are:
Unconditionally Guaranteed
Bluejeans & Moonbeams

Just saw a bootlegish DVD collecting a bunch of Beefheart -- interestingly/unfortunately, the 1975 band seems to have been very well documented -- included a dude with a Brady perm in a white leisure suit on saxophone, ick!!

Best band is of course the Zoot/Antennae band of the late sixties, though the Ry Cooder lineup seems like one of those great "coulda been huge" groups.

Didja know the bassist "Orejon" is actually Roy Estrada from the Mothers?

Safe As milk
Strictly Personal
Trout Mask Replica

But saying that, the best stuff the band ever did was the live on St Tropez Beach tunes.
