I'm sure that's the tune of The Crusher as covered by the Cramps

I remember what we sang in the playground as 8 year olds

"We had joy we had fun flicking bogeys at the sun
When the sun got too hot all the bogeys turned to snot"

70's football version:

"We had joy, we had fun.
We had XXX on the run,
But the joy didn't last
Cos the bastards ran too fast."

a great song by the great Jacques Brel. His original French version "Les Moribunds" had a bit more bite than the somewhat saccharin Terry Jacks version (being sung from the point of view of someone dying from syphillus), but I must still admit a fondness for the english version.
