Re: Spoken Word

There's a brilliant (in a VERY ironic way) spoken word record bya guy called the Reverend Victor Lundberg called "An Open Letter To My Teenage Son".

In it, this Lundgerb character chastens his son for refusing to fight in Vietnam over a backing of a choir singing the US national anthem. His speech contains such gems as "your mother will always love you, son, because she is a woman".

The best sentence, however, is the final one ;

"I wall always love you, son, but I also love my country, so if you decide to burn your draft card, burn your birth certificate too - from that day on, I no longer have a son".

Used to have it on a tape the NME compiled in the mid-80s of both pro- and anti-Vietnam songs. Don't have it anymore, though, and I'm not sure if you can buy the track anywhere, but I would have thought that even if it's not in print it should be downloadable from somewhere ...
