45 Revolutions
Nov 29, 2005, 18:19
There is a book coming out in the new year cataloguing hundreds of British Punk and Post-Punk DIY records. I was in a pretty rubbish Redditch based band who cobbled some cash together and did a 7" single. It was badly mixed and pressed and nobody wanted a copy. Our bassist who had stored all the unsold copies for a few years eventually cashed them in for recycling.

About twelve months ago I got a call from a specialist Punk and Mod record company, who somehow had tracked me down (honest!), asking if they could pass my details on to the writers as they'd like to ask me some questions about the band's history, whereabouts today and the recording sessions. I have since been called by two guys; one from Italy and one based in Holland several times and have been interogated me by email, too. About something that we saw as being a bit of a laugh back in 1979!!

Needless to say, I thought it was all a joke at my expense. But no. The book (as far as I know) will be called 45 Revolutions - and it will be out in the spring. It will feature hundreds of angry and melodic young bands of that period - some of whom made it, most of whom faded away.
