"The End"...
Apr 21, 2004, 04:27
...by The Doors, Toronto, May 1967.

It's off that new "Soundstage Performances" DVD and is one of the best live Doors performances I've ever witnessed --Really early, really out there AND minus the Oedipal section...how DID they ever do it?

(*sHIVER*)

Man, I love them all over again
(wait a minute --after a quarter of a century, I never stopped...)

Seth-

I haven't seen the said performance (yet again another purchase!), but "The End" is one of my all time favourite tracks.
Even now when I hear it, it still has that quality to capture me totally.
I reckon this track should have the 'Seth treatment' in a review all of it's own.

....go on - you can do it! ;-)

...you could review the Doors debut and say one line about every other track, then save 'digits' for putting "The End" under the 'Sethoscope' ! ;-D

Our Jim (not Tim) Tones,

Wow, you're into all that other stuff AND The Doors?!?!?!?!?!

(A moment of silence)

Oh, then you NEED that DVD just for "The End", man! It's available nowhere else and is as stunning a performance as I've ever seen by them

Do you have that remaster of the first album? It's weird--it's got all the stuff you could only hear on the orig mono LP -- only louder (like the "Fuck, fuck, fuck fuck fuck, yeah!" passage that surfaced slightly on the original "Apocalypse Now" soundtrack mix) Plus, "Break On Through" has extra bits that were snipped off the original mix

You know the part when Morrison sings:
"She get/She get/She get/She get/wwuugghaahhh..."?

Turns out he originally sung it as:
"She get high!/She get high!/She get high!/She get highhhhhhh--yeeeuuugghh....!"

(Killer, or what?)

I haven't got the remaster yet- but I'm sure I soon will have!
I love The Doors stuff and I could hear a later track like 'Hyancinth House' and go weak at the knees whith that Organ sound!

Does it compare favourably with the 21st Century Doors version sung by that utter Cult Astbury ?
