they're like revved up teenage fanclub but more velvets and less crowded house - they're miles better live than on record too - definitely going to the glasgow leg of this one if anyone wants to go for a beer beforehand

Yeah, somewhere between the Velvets and Sonic Youth. Only minimalist (there's only 3 musicians) and with more melody.
In fact they actually portrayed the VU in a movie once. They're probably sick of the comparison, but the drummer & guitar player even LOOK like Mo & Lou.

Never heard Yo La Tengo (expect them to be good from what I hear) but should say that Gorky's are really rather wonderful. Should be an excellent night out!
