Ooh Vanishing Point, a great road/drug movie, even if it does star Barry Newman (Petrocelli)...

add 'Electra Glide in Blue' to that list. The illusiory freedom of the great mythic American open road, mumbled dialogue and anti-acting...those were REAL US indie films, not like the twee pish that passes itself these days

As a total aside, I was always thrown for a loop by a track also called "Electra Glide In Blue" off the "Cycle Savages" soundtrack: but this was 1969, and the film you mentioned was released several years later
Oh, it SO smacks of Mike Curb mayhem...!
