"Indie Cred". An Oxymoron?

A friend of mine recommended a Liverpudlian band called Marlowe (http://www.marlowemusic.co.uk) to me. He mentioned the Teardrops, but described them as "Radiohead with brass". I had a listen to a couple of tracks and told him they sounded like the June Brides. I think I really wanted to say the Brilliant Corners. Gosh, have I got a red face.
