Pipe bombs in America
Oct 27, 2018, 10:13
Isn't conspiracy theory (and being thick) great. One of Donald Trump's rabid fans, posting bombs to people (with return address of Democrat) - but actually it's a conspiracy and it's a liberal plot, and really it's democrats sending bombs to democrats to make it look like it's a mad Donald Trump fan. Ahh yes.

And also this morning I read about this super speech DT gave, that was full of fibs and just things that were not right. But his fans lap it up, they don't care what's actually true at all. How can we not be heading for disaster when this man is in charge of the USA?

Why am I telling you this? Because the world is really mad and I just need to get it off my chest. Apologies.

"his fans lap it up, they don't care what's actually true at all."

Yes, that's it. It worries me he'll promote the "caravan" and thereby do better in the Mid terms than he would have.

And here .... same tactics. Bet soon some immigrants are going to be discovered torturing kittens in the toilets of the Dole office. Or something.

For some time I've had the view that politics has turned into religion, where faith and belief are what's important and facts and reality are irrelevant. You can see this whenever the Brexiteers, both politicians and members of the public, trot out drivel along the lines of Brexit means Brexit and all the other banalities they're so fond of. Although not explicitly stated, the implication is always, 'we don't care what it does to the country, we believe in Brexit and that's all that matters. We demand that you fall in line with our belief system and assist in delivering our fairy tale.'

Evangelical Christians have nothing on these zealots.

I agree with that, especially with party politics here in the uk (can't speak for other countries but assume it's the same). As an ex-labour member and now from the outside looking in I can see that many in the parties are exhibiting cult like behaviour. Brexit is the same, it's become like a fanatical movement, a good example for me personally is a friend of mine (who I regularly have heated arguments with) doesn't care about jobs, what people have lost, the economic downturn and all the other aspects, he just want it to happen and comes up with the most ludicrous justifications for doing so. It's got to the point I actually think such people need psychiatric help!

"he just want it to happen".

That's OK, I just don't want it to happen.

We both have the right to our wish. But I have a zillion reasons, both my own and daily on twitter, in the news and the economic warnings. Whereas I don't hear Brexiters offer ANY reason than that the original vote must be honoured (which we all, including them, know is a fallacy. Have Brexiters given up claiming it'll be actually good for the country?

Pipe thingys were great to make as a young teenager..I’d nip down to the local chemist and by all the ingredients for gunpowder of sorts..pack it in copper tubing..what with all that and my collection of WW2 badges..both sides..give by my uncle..god knows what trouble I’d be in these days..The local rag would have a field day..

God I’d love to read the REAL history book..

I remember when The Guardian used to be a great paper. But then the CIA/MI6 intervened, forcing them to destroy their servers after the Snowden leak, and it's been an establishment rag ever since. I recommend reading the OffGuardian if you want to still find some of that classic "Guardian" critique. https://off-guardian.org

Regarding the recent pipe-bombing incident, shouldn't we be skeptical about what the media is telling us in unison? Isn't skepticism a sign of intelligence? Or should we return to a pre-Enlightenment era where we passively accept everything our "masters" tell us? It's clear which direction The Guardian / CNN / MSNBC / BBC / The New York Times / etc hopes we go...

Common sense tells us there is no reason to send faulty pipe bombs to prominent (yet out of power) Democrats just before an election UNLESS you want to increase public support for the Democrats. But maybe the suspect lacks all common sense and is just your typical nut, driven even more crazy by the incessant media hysteria of the past two years. In addition to this incident, we've have two physical attacks on the Republican Rand Paul, a nut shot into the Republican side of the joint Democrat - Republican baseball match (nearly killing one of the members), ricen has been sent to Trump... and that's just what I can remember offhand! Yes, there are a lot of crazies out there. Perhaps Trump is right when he blames the media for deliberately fanning partisan flames?

As for the other article, about Trump speaking to a group of conservative African Americans, what is the point? Its underlying message? Isn't the article implying that the African Americans in the audience are stupid? If every white person who supports Trump is a racist (as the Guardian suggests), then what about the growing numbers of African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans who also support Trump? Are they all too stupid to realize racism when it's in their face? Do they need the divine authority of The Guardian to explain it to them in a patronizing way? No, they, like everyone else, can reach their own conclusions, and decide what is best for them and their communities based on their own lived experiences. To imply that a group should not support Trump b/c of their race / gender / or any other form of identity is to practice the same politics of oppression that the "left" allegedly decries. Rather than trying to make them look stupid for thinking the "wrong" way, The Guardian should be praising them for trying to get involved in their communities.

And yeah, Trump did say something factually incorrect in the second article - he mistook John Quicny Adams for John Adams as the first resident in the White House. No doubt The Guardian took great glee in pointing out that error. And no doubt The Guardian is oblivious to how petty and out-of-touch their anal-retentive fact-checking makes them seem.

Remember ‘Invasion of the Bodysnatchers’ the original...?

It so sad at the end that Donald Sutherland had been turned...

‘Invasion of the Mindsnatchers’ is what’s happening now..NOW!

I agree with what’s said about things becoming like a religious belief..

Poor old Johnny Ball and David Bellamy...No BBC for those two anymore!

Fink of a number!

I’ll stop there, I’m going off topic...and I’ll be accused of having shares in Alcan..again. Haha!

Without real dialogue nothing’s fundmentally going to change...just ends up as your opinion against mine and whoever shouts the loudest..I think it’s called ‘ego’...then that’s where the work needs to be done..and a thousand problems will disappear over night!

Let go your assumptions!

Here endeth the first lesson...hehe.

Apologies : )
