But ultimately it's May's approach of Brexit at any cost that is driving Sturgeon to push on I think.

The people who live in Scotland are pushing the agenda, nothing to do with May.

As for the Scottish Greens it is the borders between people they are trying to remove. Dialogue between communities, faiths and those of none, different parts of the country, refugees, the elderly, etc etc is their aim. Trying to understand and spread knowledge without having our hands tied behind our backs What a pity others prefer to bash bass drums rather than have reasoned debate.

As for nationalism in Scotland sadly there are a few and these people whilst entitled to their view they really should be ignored, they are as much use as their bigoted allies. Thankfully both the SGP and SNP have nothing to do with nationalism (obviously there are idiots in any party) but everything to do with the aim for independence.

If we start working together we might get somewhere. The teuchters in Aberdeenshire hope so.

I think I know what HD is getting at, and I disagree with a lot of what he sometimes says, is that 56 out of 59 MPs represent the people who live in Scotland. May has no mandate up here. At Edinburgh the Scottish Green Party (my lot) and the SNP, parties who support independence NOT nationalism are the majority. Scottish Labour For Independence are also beginning to grow.

However Scotland has continually voted Labour in the past and that has done us no good at all. The Torylite just pander to the Westminster system. We didn't vote the Tories in up here but we look south and wonder what the hell the electorate is up to.

There is a map in the above link that shows the shocking amount of blue south of the border. I personally voted for Ed Miliband in the last election as did many people I know so the map doesn't reflect proportional representation at all. I totally agree with you about the Tory majority and don't understand how they keep getting in. In my town (a fairly average place) they run the town council; as well as completely decimating the library service and trying to sell off the parks (so far unsuccessfully) they have set the highest Council Tax increase in the UK. Needless to say there are no local elections this year. Will the majority forget by next year I wonder. I won't.

Keep fighting Tjj and don't let the majority forget. We're on your side, certainly the people that agree with me are.

The Scottish Greens have in their manifesto they would only support another referendum if there was clear sustained support from the public.
Even something in there about a petition with about 1m signatures.
There is no clear support from the public.
Chances are they will vote alongside the SNP next week, but it only result in causing more resentment up here.
Sturgeon would always push for a referendum no matter what. The fact they too said they would want to see support around 60% and for a sustained period is by the by I suppose.
Hijacking the remain vote in Scotland for their own ends I going to cost them dearly.
And as for tackling poverty, they had a chance to exercise different options for social security benefits but delayed it.
Why?
If the amount of time and energy and money wasted up in Scotland on campaigns and flags and focus groups and endless inane debates about 'independence' went where needed we'd be much better off.
