I read on Teletex today that the MOD has confirmed that in 2000, they meet with their american counterparts to try and look into developing Microwave beam weaponry which would be able to burn an opponants skin off! These sick fuckers never fail to surprise me.

Well, whilst the scene may be far more gory; having your skin microwaved off doesn't make you any *more* dead than, say, having your barin pulverised by a small slug of metal travelling at supersonic speed (i.e. being shot with a gun). i guess it'll make clearing cave complexes easier (just zap the mountain with a big microwave dish), though i get the feeling that those daisy-cutter fuel-air bombs that are all the rage in Afghanistan do a pretty effective job of that too. It is, of course, sickening when any new technology of death is developed. But we mustn't let us blind us to how sickening our existing technologies of death already are.

All completely true but what worries me, and perhaps mushroom si as well? is that being microwaved could make you LESS dead than being shot, in a painful way, for very much longer, if they got the dosage wrong you'd just be skinned and maimed and alive (and upset) and kind of cooked. Horrible horrible thought. As you say, we have enuff ways of killing people without new ones.

A little search turned up these scary mothers From this first one the weapon will not be used to kill, but simply burn you horribly! This has the added bonus of giving the enemy a lot of people administer first aid to, thus taking up resources http://www.rubbertreeplant.co.uk/bites/us_non_lethal.htm these are interesting ... http://www.smi-online.co.uk/_media/docs/event_F52.pdf http://www.bilderberg.org/micwaves.htm http://www.globenet.free-online.co.uk/articles/nextbattlefield.htm and what's this one about!? http://www.projectfreedom.cng1.com/mc_uk.html

Yes, Marconi developed some of these, I worked with some Marconi twats. And theres more you woudn't find as intersting if you werent in the busi ness. No links this time for obvious reasons. Thank you 4W but some of these things will surprise most people when they are finally used. Kill your leader today, a brick in the head will do.

Science, torture and terrorism combined with Government backing, Nice! You have to be a complete psycopath to have the education and intelligence to develop such weapons and actually do it. Wasn't there rumours in the 80s about the evil KGB developing microwave technology which they would beam at important buildings housing those in the 'free world' carrying out espionage work - slowly frying some glamourous civil servant who was carrying out a phone tap on some peace campaigner, or summit. While this was probs just Cold War paranoia and the technology wasn't around then, it will be soon. It amazes me that governments would want to use this sort of stuff when Osama Bin Laden probabily doesn't even have a microwave oven in the cave he is currently hiding in.

"While this was probs just Cold War paranoia and the technology wasn't around then, it will be soon." It has been around since the 70's, look at the record of what was done to / from the US embassy in Moscow. What we hear about is old hat. We will be pleasantly amused at the ingenuity of the latest killing toys until we take out the toy manufacturers. Remember, we are not powerless. These manufacturers have names and addresses close to home. Its payback time.

"You have to be a complete psycopath to have the education and intelligence to develop such weapons and actually do it." Oh yes brother! Oh yes indeed! Brilliantly put. It's like the old saying, anyone who wants to be in the army should not be allowed near a gun! Can anyone find anything of the true story about the security bloke who used to go and eat his sandwiches on the building roof because sitting between the aerials warmed him up? The poor bugger cooked himself one particualrly cold night.
