On the 9th September 2002 Interbrew, the Belgian brewing giant, announced plans to move the majority of the Boddingtons brewing operation out of Manchester which will result in the loss of 68 jobs.
Boddington's Bitter has been brewed at Strangeways in Manchester since 1778. It has always been marketed around the theme of being a proud Mancunian. Its advertisements have always reflected the humour and culture of the City. This is not only a devastating loss to the workforce but a loss of a major part of the City's heritage.
