This will be my last post on this thread for the reason you stated on the new one, my friend.

Some good points, there, Annexus. I absolutely respect your right to pursue your beliefs; I just want to make sure others respect mine as well. I admire the impulses behind vegetarianism in many ways, but I don't want the discussion to become "one-sided," to use Jung's term.

The situation in the States has changed dramatically in recent years. Organic foods are huge, and people are far more aware of what they eat and also of "alternative" modes of health care. The generalism you mention in regard to Americans' eating habits is largely justified still, especially in middle America, but the situation is changing rapidly.
