No, 'tis cos he is an "Official contributor" type on HH like Holy McGrail i.e involved with running it. so he gets to be nice sexy purple, while we languish in dayglo custardhood ;-)

i asked this question earlier this year. apparently our merrick sits in HH HQ and is responsible for the webite, you know, loading coal, pullin levers and turning dials.
