Veggie Roast

Realeat now does a vegan Vege Roast (chicken-style), that is non-GM and is pretty delicious. Almost as good as Cheatin's turkey-style roast.
Found the Realeat one quite by accident in the frozen section at Tescos.

The Realeat Chicken-style roast comes wrapped up in plastic thing that you actually cook it in - and it browns! The taste, however, is not as good as the Cheatin' turkey-style roast. This is seriously good stuff, even my meat-eating friends dig it. The Cheatin' roast is available at Holland & Barratt.

I found the realeat stuff in Tossco's the other day - weird stuff in a plastic rap like a big sausage of pet food. Comes in a nice cardboard box as well!
Cooked it up with some lovely roast tateres and some of me mums organic runner beans and was really looking forward to it.
One taste and yuk awful!!!
I would have been better off roasting some Luscious Linda Mc sausages!
I would rather eat chicken than this crap!
Do not bother with the Realeat Chicken Roast - and it leaves a horrible taste and slime in your mouth for a couple of days!
At least I tried it.

Shrimp, I guess I've been veggie for too long, cos the Realeat "roast" does the job for me. Sorry you were disappointed, but I hope it doesn't put you off trying the "Cheatin'" turkey-style roast.

I have to agree with Shrimp here... I've been veggie for 15 years (though apparently I did eat a kebab whilst very pissed about 8 years ago), so my memory of the taste of chicken is vague at best... but I do know that Realeat stuff tasted nothing like chicken... indeed it tasted nothing like food as best as I can make out. Really nasty stuff (but if it does it for you, Summer, then that's what counts). It's back to Linda's Southern Fried Grills for me.

Those southern fried grills used to be excellent but they appear to have had a make-over and are no longer so wonderful - although still a staple for me.

Give Quorn Cajun Spice Fillets a go. I'm totally addicted to them. They're tastesome morsels and no mistakin'.
