So the US have ruled out a Kurdish State in northern Iraq because it would "destabalise" the area.

Too right it would! For them at least. It would mean another airspace for them to negotiate passage over to get to Iraq from Turkey!

And we all know that the Turks do not particularly like the Kurds and the US need to carry on using Turkish air bases to maintain the no fly zone in northern Iraq.

This is yeat another show of US governmental arrogance.

I must say though that 'Wolfowitz' for a name ranks up there with Casper Wineberger!
