Women bite the dust (even further) in Afghanistan
Aug 15, 2009, 08:09
In this land of Taliban opportunities a new law just passed: "The law gives a husband the right to withdraw basic maintenance from his wife, including food, if she refuses to obey his sexual demands. It grants guardianship of children exclusively to their fathers and grandfathers. It requires women to get permission from their husbands to work. It also effectively allows a rapist to avoid prosecution by paying "blood money" to a girl who was injured when he raped her."

In other words, no sex can mean legally allowed starvation of the woman. Fun, now a woman doesn't have to wait to be stoned to death.

Read all about it here: http://www.hrw.org/en/news/2009/08/13/afghanistan-law-curbing-women-s-rights-takes-effect

Autraged Arf!

ps: JC will probably try to seek the cause for this in Islamic culture and other latitude-bull he tends to grind his non-too-subtle-axe with, but obviously this is beside the point, as religion here is just a tool used by these total scumbags with tiny dickies.

Listening to our defence secretary today, he says that yeah, he so knows that this new law has passed but emphasises that it ain't about regime change really it's about homeland (our own) protection now. Caring a jot about these women and young girls is soooo 2007 it seems.

TBH, I do think that whatever any psycho over there wishes to inflict on his wife would be sanctioned anyway, at any time.

I also believe that the majority of 'ordinary' Afghani men don't want to treat their wives in such a way, in their private lives.

Grim all the same

Plus, a wife can no longer refuse her husband sex. Legalised rape via marriage.

I have to admit that when I read things like this, all notions of pan-cultural tolerance tend to fly out of the window to be replaced by "Jesus H, what a fucking shithole".

At the moment, the only half-decent thing emanating from that morally bankrupt sharkpit seems to be the opium.

Hear on PM today that even decisions on how and when to feed babies or how/when to breast feed or feeding them at all is the 'preserve' of the male head of the house.

Over a quarter of the children under 5 there are seriously malnourished, and with all these newfound right to sex laws they're are going to be even more.
