'Supreme' Court backs polluter
Jun 23, 2009, 12:26
The right-wing dominated Supreme Court has set a deadly precedent in its latest decision in favor of a mining company that intends to dump its toxic tailings into a pristine Alaskan lake.

As expected, Sarah Palin is glowing with praise for this 'responsible' decision.

The real power in American politics is with the Supreme Court. Presidents come and go, Senators and Congressmen can be voted out of office, but a Supreme Court Judge is for LIFE, or whenever they choose to retire.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court is heavily stacked with Republican appointees.

Obama's choice to replace Sandra Day O'Conner will be welcomed by the left, but won't do much to rebalance the ideological cast of the court. The only thing we can hope for is that the worst of 'em drops dead while Obama is in office and can replace 'em with someone more progressive.
