The size of the amazon rainforest is about 1.7 million square km. It's being chopped down at a rate of 11,800 square km a year or thereabouts (that's like denuding Wales every two years)

so in 142.04545454545454545454545454545 years from now, there will be no more amazon rainforest.

Unless of course, the rate of deforestation increases.

Marvellous, innit?

That's not even the scariest thing, though, PMM. See, it turns out that the rate of deforestation in the Amazon isn't even close to levels found in other areas of primary rainforest. Look at what's happening in Indonesia for instance. Makes Brazil look like a conservation zone.

There's not a huge amount of nudity in Wales as far as I can see, couple of droopy pensioners lurking round the sand dunes now & then maybe, but they'd be no loss.
