Quite. I was brought up in a rural area where every farmer had a couple of shotguns for shooting rooks and pigeons but on the other hand in my long life I don't think I've ever seen a handgun - that's quite a cultural gulf from the States.

Maybe banning handguns would be the logical first step. There's no decent logical reason for having them.


Whenever the old 'right to bear arms' mantra is wheeled out by the pro-death lobby they seem to ignore the fact that that was written with old 18th Century flint-lock style weapons that took 5 years to load and weren't the most accurate of things. Now a 18th century constitutional piece of legislation is used to enforce the right to carry an AK KILLALOT 5000 death machine as advertised on Bikini-Bullet Babes or something.
