"There is shit in the meat."

I'm currently reading "Fast food nation" by Eric Schlosser. It was written a few years ago now, but is still pertinant, unless the practices, figures and statistics revealed in book have been somehow reversed over the last 5 years, which I very much doubt.

Preaching to the converted a bit I suppose, as I've been a vegetarian now for about 15 years, but I'd recommend it to anyone.

Oh, and the reference to "Shit"?

Nope. It's not a euphemism. There is shit in hamburgers. The stuff roses like to grow in. To maximise profits, line speeds at slaughterhouses are kept high, and partly because of this, contamination occurs.

There's a lot more, and in much greater detail. I suggest you read it for yourselves, although Reagan admirers might wish to dismiss this out of hand.

I mean hey, it's only shit, right?

Have you watched the movie yet? It's worth seeing. It dramatises the situations and case studies within the book.

An interesting alternative to documentary film making.
