As the British scholar Colin McEvedy says (in the penguin atlas of medieval history, I think): "History has never been fair to the Armenians, and it is too late to start being so now."

I think this pretty much sums up the view of the western establishment. Its ironic, as many of those critical of the House resolution on the Armenian Genocide state that this is a matter for historians, not politicians, to decide. And yet it is the historians themselves who have failed the Armenians, as McEvedy honestly admits. Anyway, the rationale of genocide deniers, be it the realpolitik of a G.W. Bush or the insecure loathing of a Turkish nationalist, is so shot through with hypocrisy and lazy disinformation as to make any sane person sick.
