They are to be released

i hope that's true.

According to the Sea Shepherd blog at 05.00 GMT, there are a number of false reports, saying that they've been released, ofr that Sea Shepherd's ship won't accept calls to organise their return
http://www.seashepherd.org/news/media_080116_3.html

the whalers have said they'll return the hostages if Sea Shepherd agree not to interfere with whaling!

Given that the whaling was illegal, that'd be tantamount to allowing a crime to be committed. Even if we weren't dealing with the brave and brilliant people at Sea Shepherd, who have a long and proud history of obstructing whaling wherever it occurs.

Whilst the ordeal must be terrifying for the two men, the incident has has its upsides. It's drawn attention to the whaling happening, and the fact that it's happening illegally (the Sea Shepherd people just wanted to hand over a letter explaining the legalities of the issues so the whalers couldn't feign ignorance).

Anyone who thinks these guys are great and want whaling to continue to be directly challenged, please donate to Sea Shepherd.
