Ah, but you forget... All truths passes through three stages, said the philosopher Schopenauer. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. So anything that we don't think is true, ie: anyone other than terrorists flying planes into the twin towers, lizards ruling the Earth, the Sun revolving around us etc etc etc...will eventually turn out to be true. Or something. For fuck's sake. Why do these "truth holders" want the US government to be responsible. Is it not evil enough? x

"For fuck's sake. Why do these "truth holders" want the US government to be responsible. Is it not evil enough?" Argh. Now look what ya did Wiggy! Now I've gotten to thinking that of course, the US Govmint sets up all these conspiracy freakazoids, just to discredit any anti-war movement, thus allowing Americorp to continue spreading it's particular brand of Freeum n'Dmoxy (TM) unfettered. Michael Moore is no doubt on the payroll. Ye gods.

"to continue spreading it's particular brand of Freeum n'Dmoxy" Ridiculous. As unbelievable as the US deciding on an exit strategy that involves bringing Syria and Iran in to help administer Iraq. Oops! Just heard that on the news, five minutes ago. So not only is the "WMD" reason for invasion been blown apart but so has the "creating an island of democracy" one as well. Two minutes later, Blair, "we won't go till the job's done". Someone forgot to telephone and brief him! He'll be back on message for the next news bullletin.

Word History: One can readily see that debunk is constructed from the prefix de-, meaning “to remove,” and the word bunk. But what is the origin of the word bunk, denoting the nonsense that is to be removed? Bunk came from a place where much bunk has originated, the United States Congress. During the 16th Congress (1819-1821) Felix Walker, a representative from western North Carolina whose district included Buncombe County, carried on with a dull speech in the face of protests by his colleagues. Walker later explained he had felt obligated “to make a speech for Buncombe.” Such a masterful symbol for empty talk could not be ignored by the speakers of the language, and Buncombe, spelled Bunkum in its first recorded appearance in 1828 and later shortened to bunk, became synonymous with claptrap. The response to all this bunk seems to have been delayed, for debunk is not recorded until 1923.
