250 naked cyclists in central London!!
Oct 22, 2005, 09:01
That's right! We had 250 naked cyclists in central London for an hour and a half during a busy June Saturday afternoon. It was a delightful tour which included many memorable sights. People were friendly and charmed by us. All told it was perhaps the most interesting way to participate in a day of worldwide protest against oil dependency. It made most of the daily papers and they all mentioned that the ride was an anti-oil protest. The best thing of all, the police actually helped us out - persuading Westminster Council to give us the opportunity to assemble at the Wellington Arch.

That was 2005, but if you're interested in participating in next year's World Naked Bike Ride on 10 June 2006, all you need to do is check out the website and find out more - http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org

If you're particularly keen and live in London, then you might be interested in coming to one of our four informal meetings during which we will organise the entire London ride. The first of these meetings is at 6.30pm on Thursday the 17th of November. The other three will be held during the final two months before the World Naked Bike Ride. Details are at the website.

If you're interested in organising a ride in your locality, get in touch. It's a pretty simple process. Decide a location to meet up and a time. Produce some leaflets about the meetup, then distribute these really carefully and make sure all the people who would be interested know about the ride (especially cyclists, environmentalists, and nudists). If you are feeling up to it, announce meetings and get a collective together to organise the ride, otherwise doing it as one or two people will work.

That's all. I'll see you on your bike.

Cheers,
Jesse

ps- the Critical Mass London needs as many people to participate this next friday as possible. There's been suggestions by the police that they might not allow people to hold the next ride. See indymedia for details.
