Totally agree.
It drives me nuts when people use the "there are more important issues" argument. Of course there are. So what? The idea that using parliamentary time on a small step like this, that'll make our society just a touch more decent, somehow negatively affects our ability or willingness to tackle bigger issues is completely groundless.
Name your big issue, I'll name a bigger, and make you feel guilty for bothering with yours?! It's a meaningless, nihilistic argument, and it's the one the Countryside Alliance is reduced to.
